Homemade Dishwasher Detergent
My friend at Kudzu Grows talks about her experimenting with homemade laundry soap. I too am trying that but I have also been experimenting with Dishwasher Detergent. Not only is this better for you, your family and the environment, BUT it is cost effective too! The dishwasher detergent ranges about .01 per batch.
Recipe for Dishwasher Soap
Just as good for dishwasher and easier to store:
1 cup baking soda
1 cup borax
2-3 tablespoons unsweetened lemondade (.10 pkt)
Use about 2 tablespoons per wash, this left no residue.
Also, optional is to add 1 tbsp of vinegar to the rinse cycle.
Cost = Around a penny per load
This Works for me! Enjoy and let me know how you like it!

I use 4 packets of lemon Koolaid. I guess citric acid (1/2 cup) works also if you can find that.
Lemonade or lemon koolaid has citric acid in it! I use the generic form but yes that is what I use!
Thanks for stopping by!
This is so VERY funny! I came here because local friends INSIST they make their own laundry detergent and their clothes don't stink. I'll blog about our foray into all natural organic soap soon...but I decided to try to make my own. My one friend makes it dry and it takes about 1 T per load - the others use Crystal Miller's recipe. I'm trying to find the dry recipe and was sure you had it posted somewhere so popped her and there you are making dish detergent...which my friend has found the hard water here makes her dish detergent not work well but she's been mixing 1/2 her laundry soap with commerical..... Anyway - still looking for your soap recipes. I was sure I saw them here about a year ago. LOL
And - thanks for linking to me. I appreciate it.
OK, I love my homemade laundry detergent so much that I'm anxious to try your homemade dishwashing detergent. I'll let you know how it goes!
I just copied this recipe. Thanks so much for sharing. I have been looking for a way to make my own dishwashing detergent for a while now.
Just wanted to let you know how much I appreciate this recipe- I've been using it since early July, and love it! We're still tweaking things, but it's great. Also, I posted a link on my blog back to your site, and listed the recipe with my changes. Thanks!
