Goodbye little girl!

Well, with not only puppies, but with bulldogs, you have to be prepared that you might loose some after birth. This little girl, about 24 hours after birth, started losing some of her color. She went from a bright pink to pale. I knew that wasn't good. She stopped eating last night and today about 12 noon, she passed away. We think she had something called "Fading Puppy Syndrome". Our house is so sad and grieving. She was one of the prettiest ones, with her markings too. She was daddy's favorite (besides the all white female we lost at birth). In the picture above, you can see mommy with her little girl. I expected when she got sick that Leia would push her out of the nest, but she didn't . I am proud of her!

Sincerely,
Beth

Well, what a roller coaster 30 hours!!! Leia went into labor and was doing it hard. We got her into our vet, after an unsuccessful labor and no puppies. He did a cesarean (Which 99% of this Breed have) During our xray the vet saw 5 and we were counting on 5. To my surprise, there were 8!!! Two of them, unfortunately, died. The first one was a hydrocephalos baby and was 3x the size of her brothers and sisters. The second one, we were going to keep. She was a female and ALL WHITE!! We didn't think we would get one, but we did. Unfortunately, she ingested too much amniotic fluid in her lungs, and passed away. We now have 6 (after not knowing if we would have ANY!). We have 4 girls and 2 boys! It was hard loosing our babies. Now they are crying under the lamp and I will go tend to them. I will post picts at a week old, to make sure they are healthy. So.......to our new babies, new mommy, and 2 hour nursing shifts, lol!

I the night owl, but NOT the morning person is STILL up! Yep you got that right! Our bulldog had a lowered temp at 9 am yesterday morning to indicate that she was in labor. I am STILL up with her, and she has not delivered yet. I am making breakfast for myself, right now. I have been up all night, and am hungry. I will take her into a vet's office at 7 am. We COULD take her into an emergency clinic but that would be 2x the cost and we aren't willing to fork it. Her labor, once she delivers one could be 8 hours, and I am whopped! Please pray that things go smoothly. I will post an update as soon as I can.

Thanks

While waiting for my Uncle and his wife to come here from TN (He hasn't been here, since dropping off my grandparents for our wedding, 15 years ago. She has NEVER been here), we were sitting at the dining room doing bible study, when we saw a flurry of activity our of our front window. It is the first time we have seen this one. Here it is (do you see it?):

We were so excited and looked it up. It is a Red-Bellied Woodpecker! We have never seen a woodpecker before and especially not here. It is nice to have trees here so we can see all kinds of activity. It was cool.

A Blessed 4th of July!

Our Fourth of July was spent here at the house for the first half of the day and the later half was spent with our church friends. The first half of the day, we spent finishing our garage floor. We did it MUCH cheaper than the kits that are offered at Lowe's/Home Depot. We bought our garage concrete paint at Big Lots for $6/gallon. We bought the epoxy sprinkles at Lowe's for $8 a container. We only used one for the garage and have about 1/4 left. We DID buy a 5 gallon container of glossy polyuerethane to seal the floor, but we could have gotten by with 2 gallons of it. Here are some pictures from that. One of the pictures you can kind of see a before and after and then a close up shot with the flakes in it.

Then we proceeded to our friend's house for the 4th. They had invited LOTS of neighbors, friends, unsaved Bible club families and church folks. We had a LARGE crowd for our 15 family church. We played outside games like the three legged race, backwards crab crawl and all kinds of other games:

Then we had the children that wanted to, to give speeches from their favorite Godly founding father. We had 3 George Washington's:

A John Dickenson (my oldest):

Ladies and Gentleman,
I know this war makes us insane. But not as insane as a Declaration of Independence! Please, consider this my last attempt to convince you all against this Declaration right now. You all have spoken against British occupation. My town was Boston. We must wait until after the war, because if we lose, this Declaration will make us, as Mr. Franklin said, Hang Seperately, if we don't hang together. To my Savior, I lay all the Sins of my nation down before the feet of My Savior, Jesus Christ.

Our Youngest, who was Richard Henry Lee, second cousin to Robert E. Lee:

Here are all the ones that made speeches:

In between the speeches, we sang some great hymns and patriotic songs. Here are some of the gatherings:

It was a great time for all. Here is a cute pict from a sweet girl in our church, Rachel. She was LOVING her watermelon!

It was SO delightful and I don't remember a 4th, that was so pleasant weather wise. It was bearable, which was SO nice. There was LOTS of happy babies there too!

Hope you had a blessed 4th like we did!
