A Blessed 4th of July!

Our Fourth of July was spent here at the house for the first half of the day and the later half was spent with our church friends. The first half of the day, we spent finishing our garage floor. We did it MUCH cheaper than the kits that are offered at Lowe's/Home Depot. We bought our garage concrete paint at Big Lots for $6/gallon. We bought the epoxy sprinkles at Lowe's for $8 a container. We only used one for the garage and have about 1/4 left. We DID buy a 5 gallon container of glossy polyuerethane to seal the floor, but we could have gotten by with 2 gallons of it. Here are some pictures from that. One of the pictures you can kind of see a before and after and then a close up shot with the flakes in it.

Then we proceeded to our friend's house for the 4th. They had invited LOTS of neighbors, friends, unsaved Bible club families and church folks. We had a LARGE crowd for our 15 family church. We played outside games like the three legged race, backwards crab crawl and all kinds of other games:

Then we had the children that wanted to, to give speeches from their favorite Godly founding father. We had 3 George Washington's:

A John Dickenson (my oldest):

Ladies and Gentleman,
I know this war makes us insane. But not as insane as a Declaration of Independence! Please, consider this my last attempt to convince you all against this Declaration right now. You all have spoken against British occupation. My town was Boston. We must wait until after the war, because if we lose, this Declaration will make us, as Mr. Franklin said, Hang Seperately, if we don't hang together. To my Savior, I lay all the Sins of my nation down before the feet of My Savior, Jesus Christ.

Our Youngest, who was Richard Henry Lee, second cousin to Robert E. Lee:

Here are all the ones that made speeches:

In between the speeches, we sang some great hymns and patriotic songs. Here are some of the gatherings:

It was a great time for all. Here is a cute pict from a sweet girl in our church, Rachel. She was LOVING her watermelon!

It was SO delightful and I don't remember a 4th, that was so pleasant weather wise. It was bearable, which was SO nice. There was LOTS of happy babies there too!

Hope you had a blessed 4th like we did!

We did have a terrific day! The House Representative was there. He was SO incredibly encouraged! He knows that our founding father's had a clear view of liberty but he gets so discouraged around this time of year because he looks around and doesn't see that in today's kids. He was encouraged to hear the speeches and the exalting of the Lord in song, and it renewed his spirit. It is so easy to get discouraged about today's youth, especially from what he sees in politics. He was SO blessed to see this SIDE of today's youth!

Thanks again!
