Whirlwind Weekend!
Saturday, What an absolutely glorious and beautiful day! It was in the 70's and it was just perfect!! We put in more square foot boxes. 5 to be exact. We got them all assembled and then started to put them together when the phone rang. It was my best friend in Alabama. At first, we were supposed to go to AL to pick up a 3,000 lb wheat order at 8-9 am, then it changed to 2-3 pm, so we were doing what we needed to around the house. She (Joy) had called me to tell me that it was now changed to Noon! Umm, okay! Praise the Lord it is only 2 HOUR trip and we gain and hour. So we hurried best we could and got there right AT noon. The driver didn't arrive until about 12:45 pm but we got the things counted, loaded and we were on our way home with the wheat (It wasn't all mine). On our way home, we met a friend that had 20 of those 54 50 lb bags and dropped those off. We came home, unloaded and seperated the wheat in the garage. I knew that Sunday was our family birthday celebration, celebrating 3 of them, so between waiting for the girls to pick up their wheat, cooking and cleaning for Sunday we were busy.
We did devotional and church at home for our Palm Sunday. Sometimes those are the sweetest times. Joshua played the piano while we sang our hymns. He is doing so well and is MUCH improved (by a country mile) from his previous teacher. I just hope we can keep this one a long time, but her health is failing. We finished cleaning and getting ready for the birthday parties. We had so much fun here. We had my parents, my brother and his kids and us. Lets see, 6 adults, 6 kids and 2 dogs....FUN! We celebrated our youngest Luke, who had his 10th birthday on the 30th, my sil, Angie's who's was also on the 30th and my nephew's, who's isn't until the 10th but with them (my nephews) being at youth camp all week and Easter, we did it with the others. I am so glad we did. I was SO exhausted Sunday night....
Wait where did that nice weather go?? Monday we woke up to highs in the 40's and high winds. BRRRRR!!! I have been pouring over many books on Seed saving and other things. One of my faves as of late is the Oven drying book. It is from a lady that was missionary and she didn't have adequate refrigeration/freezer access so she freeze dried all. So thinking upon that, one thing that I run out of quite frequently that would love to have around like that is eggs. I have been freeze drying eggs. It is easier than you think. I will begin on fruits etc later. I am loving that book and about to order it from Amazon knowing I will have to return it soon back to the library.
Monday, we did school and took Joshua to piano. He is getting ready for the Guild. I am SO glad we switched teachers. What a blessing. She doesn't just put them in "competition", because it doesn't show what they now but how they can play. The guild tests not only how they play, but their fingering, their tempo, their theory, EVERYHING. We got there at 2:30 and were supposed to have a 30 minute lesson but were there until 4:15pm. LONG day, but worth it. We then stopped by my friends house and picked up some buckets for wheat storage and came home. I made chili and we had a nice night.
I was excited that my mom brought me a present that she won at the Chinese auction at the Samboree. It was a Belgium (sp) waffle maker, like they have in the hotels. We put that to work this morning. They were so good! I just used hard white wheat that I already had in the freezer. While I was doing this, our 10 yo, looked out the door to SNOW, in GA, in April! Weird! It is VERY cold outside though and I dread having to get out later. It will get below freezing tonight too.
Today we got up and did school again. Still working on it. The boys are doing a weather lapbook. They have finished their history for this year and are trying to wrap things up. They are trying to finish their Georgia State History, their Latin, math, etc, although we go year round. Later on, I need to go get Joshua's glasses fixed, Joseph's shots, go by the library, take the youngest two to chess, etc.
May you have a blessed day!
