In honor of Valentine's Day, I thought I would post a poem from my beloved Grandpa to my beloved Grandma (my mother's parents). Grandpa was a poet, and wrote ALOT of poetry. For those who are reading this that don't know, his name happened to be Alfred Tennyson Vaughn. We were blessed in our school time the last week or so, to be reading actual works from the other Alfred Lord Tennyson, dated 1876.
We, as a family, were so blessed in so many ways to have these two as our grandparents. They are definately in heaven waiting for us, but oh we miss them so much. Their wisdom, their grace and their advice. I, in particular, miss getting Grandpa's poems, for Christmas, birthday, etc. Grandpa left us all a legacy of many, many poems throughout the years of Godly wisdom and thoughts.
Grandpa and Grandma were married 56 years, before the Lord took him home in 1999. Grandma met Grandpa and the Lord in 2002.
Here it is:
Straight From My Heart to my Valentine
Dearest, you know I love you
I’m very sure that you do
Just as much as I am sure
That you truly love me too
Ever since I asked you
To be my beloved bride
My heart has been blessed
With great joy and pride
God has richly blessed our union
He guides us each step of the way
He blessed us with loving children
Together we shall see Him one day.
To Naomi with love
Alfred
