My first pinterest project: Love, Live, Laugh

Pinterest tempted me for a really long time before I gave in.  A REALLY long time.  Then after seeing all of this stuff pop up on my facebook that I loved, I gave in......took the dive.....I knew I would love it but oh my.  So the first thing that I loved was this item.   They wanted $190 for this.......$190?? um...no WAY!  Thanks to my friend Christi from church, she inspired me to do it on my own.  At first I looked at ordering them with the special that a company had where I could get a free canvas (paying shipping) but I didn't like the way they looked.  And then I needed 6 of them!  OUCH!

I was able to do this for a little less than $60!  Here's my itemized list:

Live, laugh, love transfer $17.99 after a 40% off Q from Hobby Lobby
Mod Podge (MATTE NOT GLOSSY) $4.80 after a 40% off Q from Hobby Lobby (reg 7.99 but it’s the LARGE bottle and I plan on using it for more projects in the future)
Canvases (2 pk, 8x10) $3.99 (you need 5 pkgs)
Photos $1.86 each (Sam’s Club) You will need 6 of them
Foam brushes $1.33 pkg
Paint (brown & black acrylic, large bottle) $2.99 x 2

I first painted the sides of the canvases for the photos black.  I then painted the live, laugh, love ones with the brown and then the sides black.

I had the photos printed at Sam's.  I DID have to trim the photos a tiny bit to fit the canvas.  I then put mod podge down on the canvas and put the photo on top.  I allowed it to set for about 30 minutes or so because I didn't want the photo to slide.  Then I put 2-3 coats of mod podge over the top and sides of the photos.  I also cut out the transfer for the words by individual words and transferred them to the canvas.  I put a layer of mod podge over the top of them for extra protection and a good seal.  Let them dry overnight.......probably 24 hours.  Then I took a big roll of white paper and rolled it out on the floor.

I mapped out what photos I wanted where and did them 3" apart on each side. I traced the outside canvas with a Sharpie.  I also made sure I took my permanent pen and wrote what photo would go there.  I hung the template up on the wall to place it where I wanted it.

Now an fyi....when you are putting in the nails for the picture, make sure you know, it's 1 1/2 inches from the top of the canvas to the ridge to hang it :)  Ask me how I learned that the hard way!  Anyways....walla.  I have 2 other Pinterest projects I am working on.  One is 90-95% done the other one is about 50% done.  I will update when I finish those too :) Here's the finished product:
