I addressed in This post, healthy substiutes in your baking. One of the responses I got was this:

"Agave nectar has a fructose content much higher than high-fructose corn syrup."

Here is my response from my research and why it is better for you:

Agave Nectar is an all natural organic liquid sweetener that comes from the Blue Agave plants in Mexico. It's very similar to a cactus. This sweetener is perfect for those of us that have blood sugar issues, want to avoid these kinds of issues in the future or just want to live a healthier lifestyle. As a general rule, you can use 1/3Cup of Agave Nectar for every 1 Cup of sugar in your recipes. Nectar can help you with...

Agave Nectar has been clinically proven to be diabetic friendly. Why is that? Because our Agave Nectar is Low Glycemic which means when you use our Agave Nectar to sweeten your recipes your blood sugar level doesn’t sky rocket like other sweeteners. It’s also an organic product which means you don’t have to worry about unhealthy chemicals or pesticides.

Agave Nectar contains Inulins which are naturally occurring oligosaccharides that are healthy for your digestive system.

Agave contains close to the same calories as sugar per tablespoon (45) but you can use 1/4 to 1/3 cup of agave for every 1 cup of sugar in your recipes thus reducing the number of calories.

Do you use the same amount of that as you do corn syrup? That is answered up top. And can you just buy it at a health food store?

I do get mine from a health food store or my friend's store that sells baking products that are healthy, including grain. My friend is Melanie and her website is www.wholegrainsandmore.com Call her for updated pricing! She will ship, too.
